I raise my right hand and will admit freely – I am not a morning person. My weekday breakfast consists of two pieces of nine-grain bread Ritchey sticks in the toaster as I’m getting up. No, there are no lovely breakfasts, no frittatas, no fried sausages, no muffins hot from the oven! Muffins heated in the microwave perhaps, but that’s as far as it goes!
Saturday is my favorite day of the week – no work, all play! Well, not exactly no work, but Ritchey and I have the day together! So even a Saturday breakfast is special! I’m usually up by 8:00 – push the button for coffee (yes, Ritchey has it ready to go – he will even set the timer if I know what time I will be up!). Then it’s to the office to post blogs (my two genealogy blogs are generally always ready to go!), check on emails, work on a blog, etc. This is my coming alive time! Since Ritchey works so hard during the week, Saturday is his day to sleep in a bit. By the time he’s up I’m ready for breakfast – even ready to cook it!
This morning it was a skillet of scrambled eggs with lovely additions of chopped country ham, shredded Gruyere cheese and the few herbs Ritchey managed to find out in the frosty morning! Believe it or not still dill, thyme and rosemary. So we added just a little of each! Into the skillet with a nice pat of butter! Oh, my! Now how’s that for a Saturday breakfast?
I love the weekends for this reason too. We get to eat nicer breakfasts. Looks great!
Yea for weekends!
I am so with you, Phyllis. Most mornings a cup of coffee is just fine for me. And I’ve been this way my entire life. Now, if they come up with a breakfast pasta, I may change my ways. 🙂
That may make me change my tune, too! You should work on that – might be the idea of a lifetime!
I’m a tea and orange juice girl myself. Never really have cared to eat breakfast but if I did you eggs sound good.
Thanks! Ritchey can eat breakfast at any hour – no matter how early – perhaps it’s a guy thing?
Sounds like the perfect mixture of flavors and herbs. a great way to wake up!
Thanks!
I’m not much of a morning person either, but if someone makes me a delicious breakfast like this, I’ll jump out of bed! Looks fantastic.
I love to cook any other time of day – perhaps I need to prod Ritchey into making early breakfasts during the week! 😉
Oh, we love adding things to our scrambled eggs. These look yummy! Thank you for sharing.
You are very welcome! And welcome to my blog! Nothing like good scrambled eggs!
I AM a morning person, and your breakfast looks just perfect with all the fresh herbs, all mine are seriously dead now (except for my precious rosemary in a pot that lives inside now) so i am in envy of your herbs! c
My mom is a morning person – she can rise at 4:00 a.m. – talkative, energetic and read-to-go! Well, at least in her younger days! Her energy has pretty much left! We have sage and thyme in half-barrels on the east side of the house – they’re usually protected until the winter gets really nasty!
Same here! nice breakfasts have to wait till the weekend too
I love all the herbs in this and the cheese …
Wouldn’t be the same without them, would it? I suppose everyone is too busy to make breakfast during the week!
This is my kind of Saturday morning breakfast too!! I just wish I had someone to prep my coffee the night before!!
