After the Rain

Ritchey’s sister’s mimosa tree after the rain.  It is still drenched with droplets!

It didn’t take the swallowtails long to come back to their feeding ground!   The first two pictures are taken from the deck.  The river is both beautiful and dangerous – during the spring floods the river was in the garage and partially around the house – but thankfully not in the house!

Such a dramatic combination of the fluffy pink bloom – which reminds me of a feather fan! – and the black and blue of the swallowtail!

The mimosa originated in China.  It was brought to the United States in 1745 and is used primarily as an ornamental tree.
